Afghanistan Blog #4
Overall I did not like the movie “Lions for Lambs”. I felt that all it did was criticize the people of the United States, the Government, and the Military. On top of that, the movie’s depictions of the military were almost completely ungrounded. Almost every bit of those scenes was incorrect. Some of the incorrect parts of the military depictions are the fact that there is almost no chance that the two friends would be in the same battalion, let alone platoon or even squad, the helicopters armor would not have been penetrated by small arms fire, and the aircraft that was guarding the two main characters would not have dropped the bombs on the snow mounds, it would have blown all of the militants to bits with its gatling gun, and it wouldn’t have just left the battle field like it did, it would keep making “gun-runs”. I also didn’t like the way that it just kept criticizing the government and the way it is run, which some of it I agree with, but you cant always make the right decision every time. I also agree with what the professor had to say about political activism. He said that the problem with the new generation is that they take everything like freedom for granted and don’t care with how the nation is run or how it works. My favorite thing that he said was that if you do something for the country and doesn’t work out, then at least you did something, and that is what I felt the whole movie was based around.
